assessing the safety of our blinds and mechanisms. We and our Suppliers persist in the development of, and modification of more sophisticated methods of blind manufacture and window blind
installation to combat the child safety issues. We have taken the necessary steps to ensure that all blinds are manufactured with safety in mind and are supplied with the appropriate safety devices
for fitting.
Chorley Window Blinds recommends that all blind cords and chains should be secured by the appropriate safety component and kept out of reach of children.
Cots, playpens, highchairs or beds should not be placed near to window blind controls.

2014 Legal requirements for Internal Window Blinds
European Union EN13120 - EN 13120 would apply to all window blindsmanufactured and fitted from 31st March 2014, however we can announce that the legislation was brought forward and signed off on the
28th February 2014
The standard affecting internal window blinds has been significantly revised in relation to child safety requirements. The changes to EN 13120 which comes into effect in 2014 will require:
Limitations on cord and chain lengths
Safety devices for preventing cords and
chains from creating a hazardous loop
The fitting of safety devices on cords and
chains at the point of manufacture
The testing of all safety critical components of
internal window blinds
The testing of complete blinds using safety devices

We will not be using budget materials or
fittings eg: For Roller Blinds, we
use aluminium tubing, and for Vertical blinds we use the Omega wide bodied system for a better look, smoother, and less noisy operation. This system also allows for the hooks on the track to be
replaced easily (just slot old one out & new one in) if damaged, unlike many other budget systems that would need the track to be removed and repaired at a cost to you.

All our blinds can be fitted into the face of your window frame, wall, or into the top lintel. This gives you complete control over the fitting of your new blind. There are generally two fitting options for your new blind, recess or exact.
Recess – This is the measurement you need to take if you want your blind to fit inside the window recess.
Exact – This is the measurement you need to take if you want your blind to hang outside the recess overlapping the window recess.
Handy Hint – Always use a steel tape measure and write down your measurements in millimetres (cm-mm) for the greatest accuracy.
How to measure for a Recess Fitting :
Width – Measure the inside width of the window recess at the top, middle and bottom. Use the narrowest width measurement.
Drop – Measure the height of the window at the left, centre and right. Use the shortest height measurement.
How to measure for Exact external recess fitting :
Width & Drop - Measure the the recess as above but use the widest width and height measurements & then add on the amount you require to overlap the recess on the width & height on each side eg : If you want the blind to cover the recess by 30mm each side on the width & height then add 60mm to width & height.
